Qualifications:
Geospatial Analysis – Extensive experience teaching, analyzing and
modeling spatial data via geographic information systems and remote sensing,
with particular attention to project and database design, data integration,
creation of spatial data, and image analysis.
Technical Field Skills – Well-versed in field assessment methods
including land data collection efforts with particular attention to land
cover/land use categorization, GPS data acquisition, and coastal change
research. Also well-versed in the
integration of field data with remotely sensed data.
Funded Grants – Experienced in writing successful, scientific proposals.
Web Design – Managed the International Relations Department website since
2002, responsible for new web design creation, implementation, and maintenance,
as well as the creation of research focused Cuba website with interactive
imagery and data download capability.
Example Project:
Cuba Land Cover Change Analysis – Created land cover maps of Cuba
utilizing Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM & ETM+) imagery and established major
land cover/land use changes over the entire island. In 2004 and 2006 conducted field surveys of the entire island
where GPS and ground-truth surveys were carried out to acquire validation data
to assess the accuracy of the land cover maps created previously. Ground survey data was integrated with
GIS/RS data upon return.
