On April 23, 2012, ULTRA held a workshop with Marilys Nepomechie's masters architecture students, ULTRA collaborators, and South Florida Water Management District officials, Jayantha Obeysekera and Paul. This workshop featured the work of over ten of FIU's architecture graduate students who developed urban structural adaptation plans in preparation for future climate change events in Miami. Focusing on and around the Miami River, the students first met with research collaborator, Peter Harlem, to understand how sea level rise and flooding is expected to play out in this region during the next hundred years.
